About this tradition
Diwali, also called Deepavali, is a major Hindu festival often associated with light, knowledge and the victory of good over evil, with different stories and customs across regions. Jain communities observe Mahavira’s liberation, while Sikh Bandi Chhor Divas commemorates Guru Hargobind’s release from imprisonment and has its own distinct meaning.
