Jewish observances begin at sunset; local sunset and nightfall times vary.
About this tradition
Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish festival commemorating the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem and the traditional account of oil lasting eight days. Many families light a hanukkiah, share foods cooked in oil and play dreidel, with practices shaped by their community and household.
Begins in the evening on the Hebrew-calendar date of 25 Kislev; civil-calendar dates change each year. Jewish traditions and household practices vary.
Try a little creative play
Draw eight little circles. Put a kind word or a joyful doodle inside each one.
Print, draw, and share in your own way. Every activity is optional. Creative play, not therapy.
