About this tradition

Halloween falls on October 31 and draws on layered traditions, including the Celtic seasonal festival of Samhain and the Christian eve of All Saints’ Day. Today, many communities mark it with costumes, lanterns, neighborhood gatherings and trick-or-treating.

Contemporary celebrations vary; some families celebrate differently or do not participate.

Try a little creative play

Draw a friendly pumpkin and give it a delightfully silly name.

Print, draw, and share in your own way. Every activity is optional. Creative play, not therapy.

Created by Dr. Jamie J. Karia, DSW, LCSW.
